Who is Platinum Homes?

Platinum Homes is a company solely owned by Troy Felt, Director and Registered Builder who has over 20 years experience in the residential building industry.

Platinum Homes was launched in 2003, to provide a full design and build service that focuses on customer service, with areas of expertise ranging from multiple units to luxury homes in Perth.

Platinum Homes is part of the larger Builton Group. Builton Group is a Western Australian company that specialises in residential construction, land development, house & land packages, strata development and investment through its range of integrated companies.

Whether you are a first-home investor, experienced home owner or you are looking at downsizing or upgrading your home, there is a Builton solution for you.
 

How long does it take to build a home?

It is difficult to answer this question as it depends on so many factors such as geographic location, size of home and specification. Generally once all approvals have been received from the various authorities, pre-start is complete and finance is approved, it will take as follows:

• Single Storey Homes:  4 – 7 months
• Double Storey Homes: 7 – 12 months
• Three Storey Homes: 10 – 14 months
• Four Storey Homes: 12– 16 months

What are the geographic boundaries that you build in?

We generally build in the Perth metropolitan areas as defined below.

• South: Mandurah
• North: Yanchep
• East: Gidgegannup

If the property is outside the designated areas please contact our sales consultants for clarification, as this is subject to change depending on the size of the dwelling and vicinity of other dwellings.
 

Can you assist in subdividing our property?

Subdivision is part of our core business under the Builton Group banner. The Group’s Town Planner and Project Manager can assist in all aspects of subdivision from simple duplex to the most complex subdivisons.

Do you provide demolition and build service?

At Platinum Homes we can provide this service and coordinate the whole process from start to finish. For further information refer to the Demolish and Build section of this website.
 

How long does it take to obtain approval from the shire?

The timeline can vary depending on the complexity of the dwelling and the shire. Often there are three steps to obtain approvals:

• Development approval
• Planning approval from the Shire
• Building License

As a guide you should allow 4-8 months to obtain approvals for all three steps.
 

Should we go directly to a Builder or a Building Broker?

Your home is probably the biggest investment you will ever make and it is important to do your research. The benefit of dealing with a builder is that you are able to view the product, establish the ability of the design & build service, and know that the sales consultant will assist all the way till the home is complete.
 

Can we modify the standard model?

The standard models have been designed by our in house architects so that our clients can modify them to suit their block and specific requirements.
 

Are individual designs more expensive than standard models?

Our in house architects will meet with you to discuss your specific requirements so that the designer can learn and understand your lifestyle and capture your individual needs. So although it does cost more it is worth the investment if our standard collections do not quite meet your requirements.
 

Do you build environmentally sustainable homes?

Our design team is passionate about environmental sustainable design. The team research various aspects of this and always considers solar passive design principles. These ideas can be achieved in some cases, without any extra costs - just simple effective designs.
 

What block size is recommended?

Platinum Homes has various standard models that can suit most block sizes. As we provide a full design and construct service, we can design on any block size. If you require some advice prior to purchasing blocks please contact our sales consultants.

Having our in house architect meet with you and learn about your lifestyle to effectively capture your individual requirements, your design will be as unique as you are. We will take into consideration the benefits of the block and all other aspects.

Can I make changes during construction?

Platinum Homes recognise that while building, changes may be required and will generally permit changes including those of a structural nature. However such changes need to be requested and therefore attended to at the earliest possible time period to prevent any delays.
 

Do you update clients during construction?

Platinum Homes organises site meetings when the ground floor slab is poured, to introduce you to our supervisors and discuss various processes. The supervisor and contract administrator will keep regular contact or, if required, regular site meetings with you. We also arrange clients to meet with ceramic tilers, cabinet makers and painters when required.

How long does the pre-start meeting take?

Platinum Homes offer an interior design service where our designer will meet the client at our preferred supplier’s show room to finalise the colour scheme of their home.

The pre-start process is as important as the design phase and we recommend suitable time allocated to achieve the best results. Generally we allocate 45 days to complete the prestart and colour selections

Once selection is complete when does construction commence?

Once selection is completed, all approvals from various authorities are received and finance is obtained, construction will commence within 2 – 4 weeks time.

This is subject to the condition that titles are issued, in the case of a new subdivision.
 

Do you provide landscape design?

Platinum Homes have provided turn-key products that include landscaping. We can provide this service with our preferred landscape designers.
